Once the test pressure is determined, the procedure is carried out as follows:
- All openings on the pressure equipment are closed, except for those used to connect pressure gauges, the pump hose, and the venting outlet
- The pressure equipment is filled with a testing medium (water)
- It is verified that no residual air remains
- The venting outlet is closed
- Pressure gauges (test and control) are installed on the equipment
- The pump hose (previously purged of air) is connected
- Pressure is gradually increased using a hand or high-pressure pump to about 50% of the test pressure, and then incrementally increased by about 10% until the full test pressure is reached
- The required test pressure is maintained for no less than 30 minutes
